Radford Rugby Match Report for March 18, 2017

Final score: Radford 40 - Washington & Lee 32

Radford came out extremely strong, scoring a few tries right off the bat. Michael Koch, Fly-half, started off the scoring by punching a try in from 15 meters out. Shortly after, 8-man Bryan Cappozoli had several great runs and ended up scoring 2 tries for the Highlanders. Radford’s forwards were hard at work all game long, led by Ben Hargett (Prop) and Erik Walters (Flanker). Both had important runs that led to tries, including one by freshman Christopher Swedish (2nd Row). Jacob Greeno had a magnificent 60 meter run late in the first half to score the final try of the half.

Washington & Lee came out strong in the second half, scoring several unanswered tries. However, Dominic D’alileo (Wing) was able to gain the edge and blast past W&L’s fullback for another Radford try. Michael Koch (Fly-half) made all but one conversion kick, ending with an impressive 5 for 6. While Washington & Lee surged late in the 2nd half, Radford was able to hold them off until the final whistle.

Radford Scoring Summary:

Tries: Bryan Capozzoli (2), Jacob Greeno (1), Michael Koch (1), Christopher Swedish (1), Dominic D'Alileo (1)
